Our Communities, Histories, and Heritage
The Christiansborg Archaeological Heritage Project (CAHP) is a non-profit organization based in Osu, Accra, Ghana.
The CAHP is the first organization in Ghana dedicated to community engagement, development, and transformative change, through archaeology, heritage, art, and education programming. Our work includes several projects using a place-based and people-based intervention to address challenges in our urban community and enhance quality of life. Our work centers around archaeologists, heritage practitioners, artists, activists, and residents to create history and heritage projects that reflect the identity of the community we serve.
- Community Development. To gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us and to provide a platform for cultural expression, fostering innovation, creativity, self-expression, and a sense of belonging through various heritage, history, arts and cultural projects;
- Community Revitalization and Empowerment. To empower individuals of all ages and abilities through an accessible outreach education program, skill-building opportunities, and resources to disrupt transgenerational poverty, and meet the community’s needs and well-being;
- Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion. To embrace and celebrate the rich diversity of our community, promoting unity, understanding and mutual respect through a variety of experiential teaching and learning activities;
- Inspired Leadership. To nurture the leaders of tomorrow by fostering mentorship, education and civic engagement, ensuring that the communities’ diverse voices and points of view are heard, and its potential fully realized;
- Dialogue and Collaboration. To collaborate with local organizations, institutions, and government agencies to foster community development through heritage, and provide a stronger, more resilient future for all.
