Community Library
The CAHP’s Community Library is currently the only library operating in the area. It comprises a veritable cornucopia of books for children, young people, and adults of all ages in the local community, and beyond.
The library includes fiction and non-fiction books, and specialist books on African history, culture, and art.
Alongside the joy of reading for learning and pleasure, our library offers extra-curricular learning activities around archaeology, heritage, storytelling, poetry, and performance.
Local artists have painted several colorful murals, including the portrayal of the on-going archaeological excavations at Christiansborg Castle. They also created bookshelves from recycled wood. They collected and recycled old, discarded tyres, painting them in bright colours, to provide seating in this inviting space.
The books are donated from United States’ foundations and private donors.
Library attendance is offered at a minimal fee to help offset the cost of running the library, but regular attendance is rewarded with a free session through the library loyalty card program.
