Calligraffiti
Creative Dialogues: A Series of ‘In-Conversation’ Events hosted by The Center
You’re Invited!
What happens when an old Arabic script meets urban street culture?
When sacred lines flow across public spaces?
Join us for a powerful and thought-provoking conversation between artists Hashim Hussein (Mozzay), Alhadji Sky, Yussif Hussein (Skido), Nabila Shareau, Serlom Amerkofia, Abubakar Saddiq, and Rachel Ama Asaa Engmann, professor and director of the Christiansborg Archaeological Heritage Project.
We will explore the dynamic intersection of Arabic calligraphy and graffiti art – a powerful visual form known as Calligraffiti.
This isn’t just any artist talk. It’s a reflection on the first open-air exhibition of its kind, held at the National Mosque in Accra – a historic moment where contemporary art met sacred space.
Together we’ll reflect on how Calligraffiti transforms the written word into a spiritual offering and a public statement – how art becomes both prayer and social commentary, holding space for reverence and reflection.
